Terrible sheets

We use flannel sheets year round. I have bought them at Macy’s for about 30 years. This set immediately got pilly when I washed them before using them. The fitted sheet does NOT fit the mattress. I can’t understand why this set is so horrible when we never had these issues in the past. We have bought many many sets and until this set have all been great.
