Disappointed

From a professor who teaches leadership to school leaders I would not recommend this book. Over and over she talks about conflict between friends. The lack of positive problem-solving and understanding of leadership is very apparent to me. I appreciated what she said about God being our community.

Personal, Practical, and Encouraging

Find Your People by Jennie Allen is a practical, encouraging, and convicting look at Biblical friendship and community. Jennie writes in a conversational voice, sharing stories across time and cultures, as well as from her own life, that show how important community is for human flourishing. There's no question that it's hard to find true, authentic community - it's hard to put yourself out there and work through the challenges that close relationships bring. What Jennie shows through Scripture, and examples from her own life, is that it's worth it - and a vital part of living a thriving, faith-filled life. At the end of each chapter she gives practical examples and steps you can take to build this kind of community in your own life. This is a quick read, but you will want to refer back to as you put it into practice! If you are lonely and tired of living disconnected and isolated, this book is for you. This would be a great book to read with your Bible study, small group, or friends you want to go deeper with! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book!

Friends don't let friends go through life without reading this book! At first, this book can seem intimidating. How can I, a mere human, form a deep community in a lonely world? With tips and hints from Jennie Allen, it is possible! For an introvert like me, who pretty much keeps to herself, the thought of putting myself out there can be terrifying, especially when every other time I've tried I seem to get burned. However, by sharing her own stories and giving examples of ways to reach out to others, Jennie Allen helps calm your nerves and helps you gain the confidence to have that community you are craving...which can lead to lasting and meaningful relationships that you were created for.
