The hilarious #1 New York Times bestselling picture book about a chimpanzee in a very bad mood - perfect for young children learning how to deal with confusing feelings. Jim the chimpanzee is in a terrible mood for no good reason. His friends can't understand it - how can he be in a bad mood when it's SUCH a beautiful day? They have lots of suggestions for how to make him feel better. But Jim can't take all the advice... and has a BIT of a meltdown. Could it be that he just needs a day to feel grumpy? Suzanne and Max Lang bring hilarity and levity to this very important lesson on emotional literacy, demonstrating to kids that they are allowed to feel their feelings. Jim Panzee is back and grumpier than ever in Grumpy Monkey: Party Time and Grumpy Monkey: Up All Night.

Grump Monkey is a great lesson on bad moods

Grumpy Monkey by Suzanne Lang is a wonderful examination of what it feels like to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. This message easily resonates with both parents and children alike, as everyone can relate to a time when they just felt “off” but didn’t really have a justifiable explanation as to why. Max Lang’s vibrant illustrations bring the theme of the story into existence in a way that is inviting and fun. The characters are drawn in a humorous yet unique way, which provides them with personality beyond the descriptions that are provided in the text. There are many moments where the illustrations of the grumpy monkey make us laugh while also making us sympathize with his sour mood. Overall, this is a wonderfully colorful and inviting picture book for parents and children alike. This book gives the reader permission to be grumpy and emphasizes the importance of accepting when our own moods are under the weather. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has children as it invites many important conversations on how to advocate for ourselves when we need time to reset our moods.

Has become my 3yo's favorite

My son loves the grumpy monkey book! It's got easy to understand language for young children and it has room for expansion as you come to understand emotions better and how to deal with them. Such as the way that Norman never asks grumpy monkey to do anything, he simply held space for grumpy monkey to be grumpy as it didn't mean that grumpy monkey was harmful in any way. And that many try to fix things for us by telling us we just need to do something, when really we just need the time and space to process the emotion we're feeling.

Great Story.

Great for my 3 year old. Really helps understand being grumpy and how to best deal with it - or not deal with it.
