If you have a Gut you need this book

This is an easy to read guide to the workings of your digestive system. Using plain words and a few sketches Doctor Enders explains in simple terms how the digestive system develops in your body and how it changes food in to nutrients the body can use. She talk about the different parts of the system support other systems in your body, such as the saliva glands in your mouth really being part of the immune system and sorting molecules and bacteria that could be harmful. She explains how the microbes in your gut help to digest things and which are good and which are bad and why. She goes into the differences in the function of the small and large intestines and how to keep both healthy. In all it is a fascinating book giving information in a very accessible manner. I picked this book up after spending four days in the hospital with a new found bleeding ulcer and the realization that I knew very little about that part of my anatomy. Because of that, I would recommend it for anyone to get to understand a major part of your body and especially if they have problems with their Guts.
