Too many characters

I love to read but when 14 characters are introduced every 3 pages, keeping track is nearly impossible. If she would write a story instead of jumping all over the place, she would be a really good writer. But these go into the trash.

A riveting page-turner that will keep you guessing

A single mother is found dead in the water, her lonely 15-year-old daughter left in the care of her mother’s estranged sister. An outside investigator is called in on the case where small-town lore colors the murder investigation and a web of deceit disguises the true nature of the river’s disturbing history. I devoured this psychological thriller with its dark secrets and sinister small-town atmosphere. I could feel the tension build as the victim’s sister slowly processed the trauma that reemerged upon her return to the town she had left behind years before. I didn’t foresee the revelations that came to light as the investigation unfolded, and was surprised by the truths that emerged. If you liked Paula Hawkins’s debut novel, The Girl On the Train, pick this one up for a riveting page-turner that will keep you guessing. Warning: Don’t start this one at bedtime if you really need some shuteye. It’s hard to put down!

An eerie and haunting read!

Thank you Riverheads for gifting me a copy of Into The Water by Paula Hawkins! I read Paula Hawkins, A Slow Fire Burning, and was captivated by her complex writing style and was excited to read more of her work. I was thrilled to read A Slow Fire Burning and The Girl On The Train, but this book was a little too eerie and haunting for my taste. I was still pretty intrigued and captivated to finish it and did not see the ending coming. There were too many characters and too many deaths, either by suicide or homicide at the River that runs trough the town. The story of each dead character is intriguing and haunting. The tone of the book was very chilling and it kept me on the edge throughout. I recommend this book to fans of spooky, chilling, mystery reads!

Unexpected turn of events.

I bought this book a while ago, it wasn't one of the genres I'd usually read, but it was a great page turner.

Not nearly as good as her last book

I bought this book because I enjoyed "girl on the train" so much that I thought...even if "into the water" is not as good, Ms. Hawkins is a good writer and how bad could it be? Well I was wrong. I do not recommend this book. Too many characters with too much narration by each. So many characters that she needed an index as to who was who. I had to keep referring to the index until the end of the novel. I had a really hard time finishing this book.
