Stylish with incredible sound
I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have zero regrets. Stylish, functions as advertised and it sounds incredible. Particularly like that it functions well with both Alexa and Google assistants.

Speaker transparency
I wish JBL was a little more transparent on which speakers could connect to each other. I was hoping to connect the JBL authentics 300 to a Boombox 2 but they cannot connect to one another. Great speakers though

Vintage Style Meets Modern Connectivity
I purchased the JBL Authentics 300 speaker as a part of the Music Lover Pro Bundle with the Spinner turntable. Reviewing it alone, I think it’s an impressive addition to the streaming/portable audio market. From a design standpoint, this is a really sweet looking piece of gear. The retro design is so slick I don’t need to stuff it in a cabinet. Quite the opposite, in fact – I’m proud to have this out for the masses. It has a vintage look, with the Quadrex foam grille paying homage to classic JBL speakers from the 1970s. Its interface is simplistic, but for me that’s fine since most of what I need to do I do from the efficient JBL One app. It weighs in at 10.8 pounds, but that’s more a testament to its robust construction than anything else. It fits perfectly on a shelf or tabletop without feeling intrusive, yet its presence is commanding enough to start up a conversation. A+ from my standpoint. I’ve been a fan of JBL’s high-quality sound since the mid-80s, and the Authentics 300 did not disappoint me on that front, with immersive, room-filling sound that is surprisingly balanced. The bass is deep and rich, the mids are clear and natural, and the treble is crisp without being harsh. I can crank it up without distortion, which makes it perfect for parties or filling larger spaces. The clarity and depth of sound are impressive regardless of the type of music you listen to. The Authentics 300 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast, making it easy to stream music from various platforms and devices. Connecting it to my Spinner BT turntable was a snap. Setting it up on my home wi-fi network was a straightforward process using the JBL One app. The integration with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant is seamless. It also has an ethernet port, 3.5mm auxiliary jack, and USB port for playback (I read this is U.S. only). One of the nice things about the Authentics 300, as opposed to its smaller (200) and larger (500) siblings is the addition of portability – you don’t need to keep it plugged in in a single spot. Battery life is about 8 hours, which so far hasn’t been a problem for me. Overall, the JBL Authentics 300 speaker is a great choice if you’re looking for a high-quality, stylish audio solution. The combination of excellent sound performance, retro sleek design, and modern connectivity options makes it a standout product, in my opinion.

I got this speaker some time ago and just sitting listening to it this morning - this is,by far, the best , most crisp and clear speaker I've ever had. I said that about the last 2 Charges I had as well. 😉 this one surpasses them big time! They put a retro clean look to this one and the carry handle makes it a complete deal. Can't do better than a JBL. Not in any category!! Thanks JBL for making music sound even better!

Excellent out of the box!
JBL Authentics 300 is a beautiful speaker out of the box. That's my first impression of the speaker. It has the retro form factor of the 50-60s with a leatherette overall and handle instead of the usual plastic cover in other speakers, and the edges are covered by copper-coloured metal. Its look and feel shout out premium quality. And I have not tried it yet but I think the speaker should be able to withstand some light water exposure (e.g. leaving by the pool or beach, not under the rain!) thanks to its material. When it comes to sound quality, the JBL does not disappoint. The Authentics 300 has a big enough form factor that it can house a big subwoofer. It is not so big to cause windows to vibrate, but it packs enough punch for a small party should you decide to hold one. That said, I do find that I have to play around with the EQ to achieve the sweet spot for the music i usually listen to. Additionally, even though the speaker is excellent, the sound quality depends on the quality of the source as well. If I play music off YouTube videos, it will not sound as nice as if I play off a lossless source, or at least 320kbps mp3 files. The last thing I would like to mention is the JBL app to manage the speaker. It started with a bit of a hiccup where I cannot update the speaker's software or connect the speaker to Google smarthome. I eventually gave up but then decided to try a week later and everything worked. I suppose JBL identified the bug and fixed it at their end, or maybe it was my phone? I never know the answer to this, but at least I'm happy now that I can cast music to the speaker via Wifi instead of Bluetooth. If you can, I suggest you do the same because the sound quality does seem to improve when playing via Wifi. And especially, the speaker's EQ will work better when played via Wifi as it will not be influenced by the phone. All in all, I give the speaker a solid 5 stars. This is coming from an amateur audiophile who likes to listen to good quality music and have had experience with several speakers and headphones through my years.

Great device for a variety of uses
I've been very impressed with this speaker: great battery life, powerful sound, bluetooth and with the Google assistant built in I can pair it with all my other existing Google Kit at home. It has been great for summer as I can take it out in the garden and the park and have some banging tunes in the open air the battery has lasted every test I've given it and my estimate is that it probably would do about 8 hours on charge alone. The sound is powerful and beats my sonus speaker which takes some doing the bass, treble and general volume can be adjusted separately. I had been thinking for some time of getting a TV sound bar but now I think that this with a simple audio lead will do the job instead I have tested it and the detail in movie and tv soundtracks is way more than I was picking up from the TV speakers before. I would definitely recommend it as a device which covers so many needs and it's in general great value the Sonos which I'm replacing this with cost a little less but has no audio input and is not portable.
