A New York Times bestselling series A USA TODAY bestselling series A California Young Reader Medal-winning series In this riveting series opener, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world before the wrong person finds the answer first. Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She's skipped multiple grades and doesn't really connect with the older kids at school, but she's not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie's a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret-at least, that's what she thinks… But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she's not alone. He's a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn't. Fitz opens Sophie's eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known. But Sophie still has secrets, and they're buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death-and time is running out.

Unfinished Series w/eventual inappropriate content

My daughter & I read this series for years. We eagerly anticipated each new book release. The writing stalled at book 8.5 and by 9.5 - the ELEVENTH book, more than one gay side character was added. So, if that matters to you be aware before starting this series. It goes against our beliefs and doesn’t belong in middle grade books. We invested so much time, money, and support in these books that it feels like a huge betrayal.

One of the best books I've ever read!!!

This book was great! I finished it really quickly, even though its one of the longer books I've read. This is probably my new favorite series.

A fun series starter

3.75 stars. This is an incredibly popular children's fantasy series. I've had my eye on it for a while, but the sheer length of every single book always deterred me from picking it up. Finally, I was curious enough to take the leap. Keeper of the Lost Cities is often compared to HP, but I think that's an unfair comparison just because Keeper also has a magical school and utilizes the "chosen one" trope. The plot is definitely generic and formulaic, but the good thing is that it's very readable. The pages flew by and at no point did I want to stop reading. There's a lot of setup and lots of unanswered questions, but that's typical for first books in long series. I hear the series gets better with each installment. I've ordered books 2 and 3 and am excited to keep reading.

One of my favorite series of all time!

The Keeper of the Lost Cities books is one of my favorites. I have read the first book about four times and I also have the illustrated edition. The illustrated edition was very interesting to read through.

Fun fantasy story

This borrows heavily from Harry Potter, but for fans of the genre this is a fun read. My 11 year old didn't think it was special, but I guess this is meant for girls more than boys.

Awesome book

Keeper of the Lost Cities is definitely a great book, I haven't finished yet but it is keeping me hooked every chapter. Would recommend for anyone 10 and up, as the story does contain many made up subjects including city places, living creatures, incorrect interpretations of science and universe which may lead to incorrect understanding for children. The story is well-written and straightforward, filled with fantasy, and has many creative and unique names for characters and places. It is imaginative and thrilling to read, at the same time, also including emotional scenes that makes me tear up.
