Ratings & Reviews

Here's what customers think
"This whetstone is a medium grit that can be used with water or oil to sharpen and maintain the edge of various knives. The synthetic material means no soaking is required. Higher grit stones are excellent for further refining and polishing the edge after initial sharpening, providing a mirror-like finish. Using a whetstone takes some practice, but with the help of tutorials, it can become a rewarding maintenance activity that elevates the cooking experience. The results are well worth the time and effort for a perfectly clean, razor-sharp cut."

Expensive and needs constant flattening

This stone doesn't come with any instructions. You'll have to youtube it. Soak it for 15 minutes or at least 10. Flatten the stone from the beginning with sand paper or a flattening stone, because you're going to be needing to flatten this stone a lot. Every 3 or so uses, I had to flatten the surface once again. This stone gets your edge good enough to tackle your kitchen basics, but it is not a good finishing stone, in my opinion. I'd recommend stopping here and just strop your knife on leather. I tried going 8000 and it just didn't work out for my knife.

great edge refinement

This stone helps refine my blade edge after using on a course stone. The synthetic material means no soaking or oiling so its ready to use at all times. It also has very little wear so it will last for a long time.

must have for ultimate sharpness

This stone puts the finest edge on my knives. The synthetic construction means no soaking, just spritz it with a little water. The material is durable and doesn't wear quickly allowing for many years of sharpening.

This 1,000 grit whetstone is a medium grit. You can use oil or water, no need to soak (It’s made from a synthetic material) you can just sprinkle on the oil or water and start sharpening. I would suggest buying a few higher grits on top of this 1,000. The more polished your blade is the less resistance you’ll have when cutting.
