So stiff

I bought these sheets because I liked the color and print however once I got them open I was very hesitant to open them because they felt so stiff. My husband thought they felt like wax paper. . I gave them a chance and washed them plus added downy to my load. They really feel like they need to be ironed but we slept on them anyway. I cannot explain the texture other than they feel very stiff and there is no softness to them. I am not sure what to do with them now except hope as they get washed they will wear in.
