Web ID: 8513761A heart warming read
“She makes me want to shove my hand into my chest and rip my own heart out.” In Leah on the Off Beat, we get to read Leah’s story. This book deals with a girl living senior high school life, and all the drama and intensity that goes with it like prom and college choices. Leah also struggles with how to come out to herself and her friends about her bi-sexuality and a crush she has. I loved getting to see Simon and Bram from Simonverse too. I really adored this book as I do all books by this author. They do remind me of how it feels to be a teenager and I so appreciate how real she is in writing about sexuality and sexual identity in her fictional characters. I also really appreciated that Leah was a curvier girl who owned it without shame and who so willingly stood up against racism. There was a lot to love here honestly. I give the book 4 full stars.
