valuable tool

It is a slicer, evolved from the mandolin which was more complicated and not as easy to use.

Best Mandoline Ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a warranty replacement item for the older model that I had for many years but could not get any parts for it (mainly the blade replacement). The new one is lighter in weight and has a precision slide on the side for selection of slice thickness. The design makes it easy to slice even tomatoes, which typically do not do well in a mandoline. I am very happy with the product and have used it several times.

I hope I can return it.

It’s very bulky and it doesn’t slice cleanly. My cucumber slices always break at the edge no matter which setting I have it on. The waffle cut is so thin that my sweet potatoes burn and shrivel every time. It is definitely not worth the high price tag.

Great mandoline made almost useless by stiff food holder spring

This is a great mandoline. It is easy to use and very versatile. But the spring on the food holder makes it almost useless. In order to make the food holder grip the food, the user must bear down with great force. This is not only dangerous and unpleasant, but it will completely squash any food softer than a raw potato. If you buy this mandoline, plan on buying a usable food holder from another manufacturer.
