Good small unit
The sound is sufficient for our home office out of the box but I changed the speakers to Polk R150 (also had a pair of Polk T15 laying around - same specs) and it made a big difference. I have extra receivers as well but not blue tooth capable. Very pleased with this after changing out the speakers. I had a similar Phillips unit that lasted over ten years so I hope this one is equal in durability. Suggest you download the manual as what's provided is not adequate.

Fell short of greatness - Missing AM radio
I received this system as a birthday gift, having hinted that I was looking was looking to replace a shop stereo because the CD player had stopped working. The CD player and sound on this system work great. But it does not include an AM radio option!!! There’s FM, but no AM… AM radio is an essential feature to keep up with news and events while working on projects in the shop, especially in rural areas.

Genius Compact Stereo System
What can anyone expect from a "micro" stereo? Turns out, at least in Philips' case, more than you might expect. It's actually kind of shocking how good it is. In a small footprint, you've got bass-reflex loudspeaker ports with 3" woofers, which give you richer low tones, all to make the most of your 18 watts of output power. First, everything it says it can do, it does easily. Each feature works as expected, easy set-up (you will need to attach the speakers via their wires, which is very easy). The visual instructions make sense. Pairs up with my Apple Music perfectly. CDs sound clear and no fuzziness even on high settings, same for the radio stations and Bluetooth music. Virtually everything you can do with this system you can do via the remote (except eject CDs). The remote is like a TV remote in that it is super logical. In a pinch, you can adjust the volume with the lovely knob at the front, which has a very satisfying feel to it. Nice to know that if you damage or just can't find the remote, you can go to the manual buttons on the front. It has a clock, too, but luckily it's not constantly displayed so it won't glare at you at night. Just hit "clock" and it will show you the time. Bonuses? For one, it has a sleep timer function for 120-90-60-15 minutes, which from what I've seen is pretty unusual in a stereo of any size. So, you can fall asleep to guided meditation CDs or to some soothing Spanish guitar on the local classical station or whatever you like. For another bonus, you can change the sound mode to your liking. You have "balanced, bright, clear, warm and powerful." I find that warm is a nice middle zone, but clear is better if you prefer the vocals to be more upfront. Powerful will rock the room. :) Great price, surprising quality and super sleek looking. So much so that I bought a second one for the living room. It's more than adequate to fill up the space with beautiful sound. Enjoy!

Good sound.
Clarify the clock setting instructions. I may be a geezer but I am not an idiot.
