Excellent

I read an amazing story that had beautiful art. The story is about a senior who finally confesses his feelings to the girl he likes. He also appreciates his workspace as it will be his last work there. The friendship in this story is extremely charming.

Such a Cute Graphic Novel!

Pumpkin Heads was a great read! The story is a slice of life romance following Deja and Josiah as they embark on a mission to get Josiah to talk to his crush before they go to college. The writing is hilarious and the detail in the artwork is amazing. The emotions that the characters feel can be seen and read in the art and writing. During and after reading the novel, I just felt warm fuzziness inside. Just like other Rainbow Rowell books, I very much enjoyed the romance style. I definitely recommend the read.

Frido pie is delicious.

As a Midwestern girl, I can attest to this. In the beginning I felt like I missed something, like a epilogue or a small backstory was missing. In the end, the story starting on the last day of the pumpkin patch worked well because a rhythm set in but to me it's a bit jarring to start. All the character's were down-to-earth and had cute quirks, which I love. Miss snack-loving Deja with all her puns is definitely my kind of gal! And Josiah's so sweet, like a puppy you want to pat on the head and give a treat to, to make him smile. The lesson Josiah learned from his mission was well earned, and his adventures with Deja really helped put his feelings in perspective, even if he didn't realize it. You can't judge a book by its cover, sometimes goats are good guys, and Pumpkin Patch friends are forever! I love Halloween so this was the perfect springtime/summer read to pump(kin) up the spooky vibes and give some sweet, friendly "spice" to your week... Get it, Pumpkin spice? *shrug* I can't help being corn(chip)y. Too much? Lol

Loved The Art, Loved the Story A Little Less

I really liked this graphic novel! I probably should’ve read it during the fall to get a more emmersive experience but I still enjoyed it. The inclusion of characters with different races & sexuality was also very refreshing. I wouldn’t give it the full 5 stars because although I loved the body inclusivity of having plus sized characters, I feel it defeats the purpose of including people usually underrepresented by making Deja talk about food on basically every other page. The point of having a plus sized character is to make others feel seen in modern media, and making half of Deja’s character be about food seems to be in bad taste. Besides that, the story had a good pace and I really loved the ending

Great Book

Pumpkin Head by Rainbow Rowell is a phenomenal graphic novel read for young adults. The story adds much needed comical relief and comfort to the world right now. It’s the friends’ last seasonal job at the town’s pumpkin patch before their freshman year of college. Deja is determined to get Josiah to finally work up the nerve to talk to Marcy, the girl on whom he has been crushing on for three years. As usual it’s a busy night at the Patch, however, and when the two pals make it to the Fudge Shoppe where Marcy works, they find that she’s been sent off to cover the S’mores Pit. The flowing journey through the various attractions of the Patch becomes increasingly pointless, as Deja and Josiah track the shifty Marcy, just missing her as she’s relocated from one task to the next. The story has a whimsical tone to it considering the two teens are getting to truly experience some fun at the carnival for the first time in years since they were always working at their designated station. “Pumpkinheads” was more than a story about a last evening at a beloved pumpkin patch; it symbolized being confident enough in a friendship between two people to speak both challenge and truth — even the truth that makes you feel unshielded, but could set you on a new, rewarding path. Which led to Deja becoming Josiah’s possible love interest because of their direct differences.
