Great for a dance workout

I love the fit on these shoes. I prefer a high top for my workouts and these provide the perfect ankle support as well as comfort.

Sometimes a redesign needs a redesign...

I am a fitness instructor of 30+ years and have used Rykas exclusively for more than 15 years. I have been through many, many models of your mid tops and have always been grateful that you always have at least one mid top in your lineup. They offer the best support for the constant lateral and pivoting movements common in studio classes like Step, Zumba and HIIT. while this new Devotion model is not a terrible shoe, I have to admit I am pretty disappointed with it. As many other have said, the configuration of the strap and laces is very awkward, making them difficult to tie. They are also definitely narrower through the toe box (and I have a very narrow foot!). Studio shoes really need that little extra space in the toe box (like the last Devotion mid top model had) to allow the toes to spread during balance-based and impacting movement. They do offer good support in lateral movement, and the cushioning is okay. I'm always a little scared that you might pull the plug on the mid top models which so many fitness professionals rely on, so I'm hoping that this review is seen as a loyal customer's "constructive critique." Shoes are the most important pieces of equipment we instructors use, absolutely essential, and your design successes help us succeed.

Arch

I have a high arch and unfortunately for me that part made a huge impact on my foot causing pain rather than comfort.

Disappointing

These are not nearly as comfortable as the previous XT mid style. They are also heavier, and the lighter weight of Ryka shoes is what I used to really like. They also look bulky and are not very attractive when worn with capris or shorts. Not bad with long pants. Overall, I am disappointed with this model.
