Heartwarming Holiday

Gwen Baker's life is falling apart. Recently single thanks to a cheating boyfriend and on leave from work Gwen must now survive Christmas back home with her family, including her horrible sister and even more horrible brother-in-law. Hoping that she can get through the holiday without anyone finding out about her job and avoiding a violent scene with her Carys, Gwen realizes that even this might be impossible as disasters continue to erupt around her. The only bright spot is finding her childhood crush of a neighbor home for Christmas as well. Dev, as handsome as ever and with his life sorted, makes Gwen wonder what might have been. Thankful that the awful day was finally over Gwen sets off to bed (aka the dining room) only to wake up the next morning back in her room on Christmas morning. Gwen is determined to figure out how she is stuck in this time loop and sets off trying to set right the things she thinks might help her grant her Christmas wish to wake up in tomorrow. I'll read anything by Lindsey Kelk. Her feel good rom-coms are filled with humor and heartwarming moments and "The Christmas Wish" is no exception. I would love to see this made into the next great holiday movie. Don't miss out on adding this to your TBD list and check out Kelk's other titles.

Prefect vibes

I am glad that I read this book. The book is filled with Christmas vibes and light humor which makes the book so much more cute and endearing. I don’t think that this book is boring and very long because the action begins exactly when all the characters and their emotions are already clear. This book discusses a lot of social issues and what I liked and it is making this book more realistic and important. And issues such as love, betrayal, relationships. All in all, this is a very sweet warm Christmas story that creates a romantic mood perfect for cold winter evenings.

a great story

This was a fun and interesting story. It is certainly the first ground hog day type Christmas story I have ever read. It was so funny reading how she changed something each Christmas day until she finally woke up on boxing day. I really like the characters as they were easy to connect with. I loved how the family had many different characters make for great drama. This book had a medium pace to it and was well written. I just loved the uniqueness of the storyline. So I definitely recommend reading this book, especially if you enjoy light on the spice funny romance novels. So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this fun and very interesting story that certainly kept my attention throughout. I actually have discovered I have 3 more books by this author on my bookcase, and now I can't wait to read them.

Heartwarming Moments and Hysterical Situations

Lindsey rings in the holiday season with sheer hilarity! The Christmas Wish gives Groundhog Day a run for its money with a Christmas Day that just won’t end! Gwen is having the worst run of luck! Heading home for the holidays with her cousin Manny, she wants to leave the disaster that is her job, relationship, and living situation behind in London - away from the prying eyes of parents and unsolicited scrutiny of her sister. Returning to her small hometown village, Gwen is determined to keep the peace (while maintaining her sanity) and steer the conversation away from anything that may trigger the typical family meltdown. All is well until her sister and the gang arrive. One disaster after the next, Gwen ends her day with relief that it’s finally over and can be forgotten - until she wakes up to Christmas Day…again! Stuck in a time loop, Gwen can’t figure out why she is trapped, doomed to relive one of her worst days over and over again. Through trial and hilarious error, Gwen, with the help of her gorgeous childhood crush Dev, learns through each repeated day that life isn’t always as it seems and the truth isn’t hard to find if you are willing to open your eyes and see what’s right in front of you. What I liked about this book: Lindsey is the master of witty banter and sarcastic remarks! I was laughing straight out the gate with this one and it never stopped. What I really enjoyed was the twist resolution! I just knew what was going to end the loop and was shocked when she woke up on Christmas Day again! I also enjoyed Gwen's reaction to each day - Lindsey literally wrote the same day countless times but each one was so different, such an adventure, so intuitive, and slivers of personal growth that you don’t realize how they are stacking on top of each other until Gwen does. From heartwarming moments to hysterical situations (and one steamy meetup), the Christmas Wish will quickly become one of your holiday romance favorites.

Magical and charming

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒ The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk is a magical and charming Christmas story that is perfect for the holiday season. Story Recap: Gwen Baker’s life is a bit of a mess. Her career as a lawyer at a top London Law firm is hanging by a thread and her fiance, Michael left her a few months ago. She’s hoping that a family Christmas holiday is all she needs to get back to where she was before and put her life back together again. Christmas day is full of chaos with her parents, her cousin Manny who is like a brother, and her sister Cerys, and her family all drinking a bit too much and the family dinner ends up a disaster. Next, she embarrasses herself in front of her next-door neighbor, Dev, who she’s had a crush on for years, but finally, the day is over and she’ll soon be back in London trying to get her life back in order. However, the next day turns out to be Christmas morning once again. Gwen has to find a way out of the time loop as she can’t spend another disastrous Christmas day over again. My Thoughts: I love a bit of magical realism, especially in Holiday books. I usually enjoy a good time loop story, and The Christmas Wish did not disappoint. Although Gwen’s family is a big chaotic mess, there is love and support deep down underneath it all. So, it was just a matter of time for Gwen to find it and appreciate her family for what it is. The romance was definitely a side plot, and the main story is all about Gwen and how she figures out what is important in her life. But, it was a sweet romance, and although we don’t see as much of Dev as I would have liked, he’s quite a wonderful hero. I enjoyed this light and hilarious book, it was everything I want in a Holiday book, with some magic, love, and self-reflection. Recommendation: I highly recommend The Christmas Wish to anyone who enjoys fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Groundhog Day of Christmas!

Gwen's boyfriend has broken up with her; she has been suspended from her job and she does not get along with her sister. This is how she arrives home for Christmas. This book is the Groundhog Day of Christmas. Gwen keeps repeating Christmas Day until she can figure out her life and make peace with each person in it. Every Christmas day is different and focuses on a different person in her life. She learns a lot about herself during this process. This is an enjoyable Christmas book with many laughable moments. Lindsey Kelk's books always puts a smile on my face. If you like rom coms, you will like Lindsey's books. I have read several and have enjoyed every one. If you are looking for a Christmas book give this one a try. Thank you to #netgalley, #HarperCollins, and #LindseyKelk for a copy of this book.

Wonderful holiday read!

The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk is a fun, hilarious holiday read. The novel follows Gwen Baker as she returns home after finding out that her boyfriend was cheating on her and her career stalling out. Gwen hopes to rest and sort out her life, only to find she's stuck in a time loop. Like most of Kelk's novels, there is a romance involved, but it always comes secondary to the journey of the main character. If you want romance as the focus of your read, this book probably isn't for you. The novel is more about Gwen's journey to rediscover herself and mend the parts of herself that she feels are broken. However, like all of Kelk's novels, the book is delightful and so, so funny. If you enjoy family drama and fantastic side characters, this is a must read! This is a wonderful read for the holiday season and Gwen is so relatable with all of her self-doubt and the arguments that come up during the holiday with family. I highly recommend this book to readers of fiction and anyone who loved a good journey of self-discovery novel.

Laugh out loud funny

Think Groundhog Day — but Christmas For newly single Gwen, Christmas never ends. Yes, that’s the plot. But the book is warm hearted with a great message about family. The book was both laugh out loud funny and touching at the same time. My only gripe is that as a British book I had to look up a word or phrase about every page or so. Usually I don’t find British books quite so hard to understand! Now I plan to look up the author’s back stock and see what I have been missing. This book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for my honest review.
