From the author of The Bride Test comes a romance novel hailed as one of The Washington Post's 50 Notable Works of Fiction in 2018 and one of Amazon's Top 100 Books of 2018! "This is such a fun read and it's also quite original and sexy and sensitive."—Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author "Hoang's writing bursts from the page."—Buzz feed A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick. Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases—a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old. It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice—with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel.

Swoon Worthy!

This was the first book I’ve read of Helen Hoang’s and I was not disappointed! I loved the representation in this book! It’s not often you read a book where the FMC has Asperger’s. The way Hoang describes and brings to life Stella’s character is beautifully and respectfully done. It was super fascinating and intriguing reading about Stella’s struggles with intimacy due to her Asperger’s. This story has such a unique plot as well!! Stella hires an escort, Michael, to show her all the ways of being intimate with someone. From the get go, Stella’s character is super likeable and you can tell how brave she is to be going after something she wants. I also absolutely loved the fact that Michael is an escort (normally it’s the woman in this position portrayed in books) and just how flustered he gets when he’s with Stella. He is so patient and kind with her, too. Hoang’s characters and stories are a delight to read! I will definitely be reading the other books in this standalone series!

A great romance!

I loved this book, and Stella as a character. Stella is on the spectrum and is looking to get better at sex. The way she goes about this kept me wanting to read more. An unlikely pair coupled up, but will it work out in the long run? Overall I absolutely loved the characters in this novel, and how Hoang presented a neurodivergent character in the form of a romance. Stella and Michael are an unlikely couple: Stella’s background in data, Michael an escort. The way their romance develops in this novel is sweet and kept the story entertaining. The cover of this book made me a little hesitant, but it does not do the book justice. I found myself recommending this book to all of my friends, and know that I’ll continue to do so. Overall recommend for anyone that is a fan of romcom, fiction, and romance with unlikely characters. Great job to Hoang on this novel!

Pulls at Heartstrings

I have now read this book twice and it was one of my favorite go to reads when I want to read a super sweet romance. I have an unhealthy addiction to books that pull at my heartstrings and this book definitely applies. The book centers around the protagonist, Stella, who struggles to make social connections and decisions because she has autism. She enlists in the help of the love interest to help her learn how to be in a relationship. Both characters struggle with feelings of self-worth and once they do fall for each other, they decide that they do not deserve each other. While this communication trope typically tends to annoy me, it is done in such a way that maintains the sweetness of the relationship. The writing in this book is well done and easy to follow, and it also handles tough subjects very well. There could definitely be an argument made that this book and series tend to romanticize autism, but I also think that it adds more diversity to romance characters.
