Now in paperback, this surprising and gripping sci-fi thriller with a killer twist that Entertainment Weekly called "compulsively unpredictable" will have readers hanging on until its shocking finale. The daughter of two astronauts, Romy Silvers is no stranger to life in space. But she never knew how isolating the universe could be until her parents' tragic deaths left her alone on the Infinity, a spaceship speeding away from Earth. Romy tries to make the best of her lonely situation, but with only brief messages from her therapist on Earth to keep her company, she can't help but feel like something is missing. It seems like a dream come true when NASA alerts her that another ship, the Eternity, will be joining the Infinity. Romy begins exchanging messages with J, the captain of the Eternity, and their friendship breathes new life into her world. But as the Eternity gets closer, Romy learns there's more to J's mission than she could have imagined. And suddenly, there are worse things than being alone…. Now nominated as a YALSA Quick Pick.

Absolutely Floored

Once I picked up this book, I had to finish it in one go. I have never experienced this level of immersion while reading—the plot twist(s) had my jaw on the floor. My hands felt sweaty almost the entirety of the second half. It got to a point where I had to slow myself down because I didn’t want it to end! After finishing the novel I honestly had to sit in silence and regroup because of how intense I got. If you were debating picking this one up, or finally getting to reading it… DO IT! ASAP!!

Amazing book

Unknown space, mystical space, wonderful space, frightening space. The loneliest girl in the universe by Lauren James has provoked more emotions than I could think of with the beautifully crafted characters, scenes, and dialogue. This book is about the journey of Romy, a teenager who was born in space, aboard her spacecraft trying to find a new inhabitable planet. Romy is all alone in her spacecraft after her parents and crew have died. She then finds exciting news that a new spacecraft is coming to meet her and give her company. She starts to talk with the commander of the new spacecraft and finds out that he is not what she expected. I was a bit skeptical about this book at first. An important feature of this book is that many of the chapters are just the emails between Romy and the commander of the other spacecraft, J. Due to this, I thought it would be especially boring and a sappy love story with no real action or plot. I was quick to find out that I was very wrong about this, most of their conversations are full of interesting details about earth that keep you at the edge of your seat. Another one of my favorite aspects of this book is the character Romy. All the main characters in sci-fi novels have been completely unrelatable to an actual teen. They have gone through crazy situations which make them non-relatable in most ways. Romy, on the other hand, was different. Even though she had a completely unrelatable situation she remained a teenager. She struggled with math homework and even wrote fan-fics! She is the most relatable and lovable character. Any teenager can connect with her feelings as she narrates the book, and because of her perseverance through the tough situations, she can be a hero to any teen reading, including me, and be the influence to make them push forward. Most of the decisions she would make, I would make, and because of this and the crazy situation she was put through, I can confirm that this is singularly the best sci-fi novel I have ever read. This book took me through an emotional roller-coaster, it has had many twists, turns, and betrayals. It has taught me that not everyone is who they seem to be and to be careful who you trust, even if they seem charming. When Romy felt the betrayal so did I. This book made me want to cry and scream just as Romy was doing the same thing. Romy’s point of view is thrilling. Because of her voicing her experiences, I found out things exactly as Romy found them out. This gave a suspenseful aspect for the reader to experience. The readers did not know what was going on before it happened. We made the connections at the same time Romy did, which made this book an even more interesting read and, at times, a mystery. I will admit that the time difference between Romy and J sending the emails and receiving them was a bit confusing, but once you catch on to the pattern and the concept of the time difference when people are so far apart in space it becomes something easy to understand. This book is an amazing, jaw-dropping read that everyone should experience. With the relatable, heroic characters and the stomach-turning conflict, this book is at the top of my reading list and is something everyone should experience.
