Amazing

As a lifelong Lord of the Rings fan, I couldn’t resist picking up this beautiful edition of the book. If you’re a serious fan of Tolkien’s work, this is an edition worth considering. It’s more than just a book, it’s a true collector’s item. The quality is exceptional, from the tactile feel of the pages to the stunning cover. The rich texture adds a layer of authenticity, making it a more immersive experience while reading. What really sets this edition apart are the illustrations by Tolkien himself. While I’m not usually one to pay much attention to the art in books, his drawings truly help bring the world of Middle Earth to life, sparking your imagination in new ways. The sturdy slipcase with intricate artwork ensures that this book will be well-protected for years to come, making it an heirloom piece that you can pass down through generations. However, I would recommend this edition only to those who are true fans of The Lord of the Rings, as it is definitely an investment. It also makes for a perfect gift for anyone who loves Tolkien’s works, it’s a treasure that any devoted reader would appreciate.

Read this edition

The gold on the spine wears off. So if you want to keep it pristine, do not read the book. It should only be used as decoration, which is unfortunate. The page market also thins and frays with use.

Really good

Honestly, I’ve never actually read LOTR before. I’ve been wanting to, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I got this book during the 50% hardcover deal for $125, and frankly, I love it! It’s a thick book, and I’ve just started to read it, and I’m loving it! The quality isn’t too bad, and I really enjoy the two foldout maps, and the illustrations. I personally think it’s worth it, but that’s just me

Book Suitable for Collector of fine Editions

Quality is Excellent! This volume is very upscale and costly! I would recommend this edition as a show piece for a library of extreme devotee of the genre. The price of the book is really to high, unless you are a devotee of the genre, collector, or are making a gift of this volume.

Not worth the price

I was really hoping it would be worth the hefty price tag, but it’s very poorly made. The printing around the center cut-out on the slipcover is off-center, the large map that came with it is also printed crookedly and was wrinkled beyond the normal creases from folding. The two map fragments look and feel cheap and they’re blurry. Not worth the price. I’m going to return my copy. Overall very disappointing.
