#1 BESTSELLER, Stephen King's apocalyptic vision of a world blasted by plague and tangled in an elemental struggle between good and evil remains as riveting, and eerily plausible, as when it was first published. This edition includes all of the new and restored material first published in The Stand- The Complete And Uncut Edition. A patient escapes from a biological testing facility, unknowingly carrying a deadly weapon- a mutated strain of super-flu that will wipe out 99 percent of the world's population within a few weeks. Those who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge, Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a peaceful community in Boulder, Colorado, and Randall Flagg, the nefarious Dark Man, who delights in chaos and violence. As the dark man and the peaceful woman gather power, the survivors will have to choose between them, and ultimately decide the fate of all humanity. Also a limited series on CBS All Access.

My fave book of all time

I absolutely adore Stephen King. This is my ultimate fave book ever and got me into reading King when I was much younger. Then came out with the uncut version and loved it even more. I love that King books can be made into movies as well but the books are always the best. I truly recommend this book to any and all readers or suspense and horror. I love the good vs evil. Each character you either love to love or truly despise or wish they could be helped. Very relatable and has stood the test of time since written.

Classic

To read a book dedicated to Christianity is refreshing, especially with how dark the world is getting these days. Highly recommend, but definitely for mature audiences obviously.

Work of literature

Where do I begin with this book!!!! This book was a wild, brutal, raw, amazing, beautiful, fantastic, and eye opening book. None the less, there is no doubt in my mind that this is one of Stephen Kings best books. The opening of this book is one of the best I've read in a book, haunting and eerie and sets the mood of the book right away. The Stand has amazing allegories of the human spirit and puts them to the test in the most savages of ways. It's not just about surviving the pandemic that eradicates almost all humanity, but also how to pick up the pieces and start a new. You care about the story, and its characters almost immediately and in no time, I was fully invested in them. Their backstories were engaging and so fascinating, how everything unravels and unfolds in the end.
