While this was slow in parts, I ultimately enjoyed

REVIEW cw: PTSD, anxiety, on-page panic attacks, depression, past cardiac trauma, mentions of racism, addiction, homelessness, leukaemia, DV, misogyny Knockemout's police chief, Nash Morgan has always been known as the easy-going, good Morgan brother. But, since he was shot, he's merely existing in a living nightmare of panic attacks and flashbacks. His new neighbour, Lina Solavita, can see right through him. With her own past trauma, she usually hates physical touch. But something about Nash is different. Their attraction is palpable, but Lina is keeping secrets that could derail their friendship and the possibility of something more profound. I had been so excited to return to Knockemout, as I'd LOVED the first story as well as all of the characters. And, while I enjoyed this book for the most part, I felt the pacing was exceptionally slow at times. I just didn't think it needed to be almost 600 pages. That said, things really began to pick up around halfway, and once the story really got going I became truly invested in Lina and Nash's relationship. I liked Lina immediately. Her sass was great, but I particularly liked her caring nature. I loved how gentle she was with Nash as she slowly discovered the extent of his PTSD, and I ADORED how she took care of him after his panic attack. I also appreciated it when they opened up to each other about their respective traumatic experiences. Her nickname for Nash made me giggle. For all I adored Lina’s confidence, her flustered side was adorable in chapter nineteen. I'd loved Nash in the first book, and for the most part, he didn't disappoint in his book. He was SUCH a good guy, but I loved seeing his darker edges, as he battled with doing what was lawful, over what he wanted to do. I thought his PTSD was particularly well-written, and his anxiety often felt visceral. My heart broke for him on so many occasions. I loved that, for all Nash's obvious attraction, he was so sincere and considerate during the events near the end of chapter thirteen. Meanwhile, Lina’s POV cracked me up. Their sleeping positions and particularly Lina’s reactions were hilarious. Piper's rescue was also both hilariously awkward and endearing. Lina’s reconciliation with her childhood friend Angie felt cathartic. I thought the narrative around racism in policing was also well-written. I also found Nash’s letter from his father and the focus on addiction recovery incredibly moving. I loved it when both MCs finally let down their walls and revealed their vulnerabilities and fears. I ADORED chapter forty-five. The wait for their first time together was worth it. It was hot, but also SO sweet. I also loved their first date. Of course, what makes this series is all of the colourful supporting characters. As well as the usual Knockemout locals, it was fun to meet several new residents. I loved Mrs Tweedy, Nash and Lina’s neighbour. She was hilarious, and the 'Sweating with the Oldies' workout with Lina, Stef, and Mrs Tweedy's friends made me snort laughing. Meanwhile, Stef and Jeremiah were ADORABLE together. Meanwhile, I absolutely LOVED Nolan. The tension between him and Nash made me snort laughing on so many occasions. The career day rivalry cracked me up and only made me love Nolan even more. I was genuinely worried for him for a second but I LOVED his ending. Meanwhile, Melvin the FTA was hilarious. It was also fun to catch up with some familiar faces. I loved how easily Lina read Lucian. As for his and Sloane's dynamic? I am still salivating at the thought of their book. I loved Sloane and Nash’s talk in the library. Drunk Sloane and Naomi together were hilarious, but they also gave GREAT advice. I also loved Knox's advice to Lina, and his pre-wedding nerves were ADORABLE. I LOVED chapter thirty-four. The aftermath of the fight, as well as yet more anticipation of Sloane and Lucian, were perfect. When the action finally came it was exhilarating, but the players and venue were both predictable. I'd guessed the people and location as soon as they were originally mentioned. Still, I LOVED how Lina dealt with the situation and the proposal was hilarious. As for the epilogue? It was perfect, and the bonus one left me salivating again for the next book. While this was slow in parts, I ultimately enjoyed Nash and Lina's story. Overall Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Heat Rating: 🔥🔥.5

Sexy police chief and bounty hunter romance

Police Chief Nash Morgan got into law enforcement to ensure people like his friend Lucian were treated fairly and with compassion, the very opposite of his predecessor. At the end of the first book he was shot at the side of the road and left to die. Ever since then he has felt disassociated, as if he's just going through the motions, he's having panic attacks, he can't remember the attack, and he's short-tempered. Nash is prime husband material, he wants to live in Knockemout, have kids, coach softball etc, etc. Lina Solavita is a high-skilled insurance investigator who retrieves high-value assets for clients. She is in Knockemout looking for a stolen asset, which is linked to the man suspected of shooting Nash (although she's keeping quiet about that). After a childhood health scare Lina's parents have tried to wrap her in cotton wool and call her at least once a day, so Lina lies to them about her job and how risky it is. Oh, and she was Nash's brother's girlfriend once upon a time. Lina loves fast-paced life, travelling most of the year, the excitement, the thrill of the chase. Family and settling down aren't in her future, but if the sexy police chief who happens to live in the apartment next door wants a fling she's all in. Add in the hunt to discover who shot Nash and this sexy, opposites attract romance is a winner. Read on my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Hmmmm …

I enjoyed book one in this series so purchased book two. Honestly, a little disappointed. The story, plot and characters were still good, but I was disappointed with the tone of the author in this one. Some of the language was somewhat crude, rather than appealing and educational. As a Mom, I think these types of books can help educate young women in sex, relationships, how to expect to be treated by a partner, but found this one a little shortcoming in it’s delivery, compared to the first book. I just encourage the author to stay true to herself in her writing style.

Such a good series…bring on Bk 3

Nash is a walking corpse after the events of TWNGO (his words, not mine 😆). Lina is allergic to relationships (her words, not mine 😆). I loved the way they could be vulnerable around each other. Watching them open up to each other and share things they haven’t with anyone else was beautiful. I am loving this series and am so glad all the books are out. I can’t wait to jump into the last book.

Amazing!

Let me start with I loved Nash in the first book, but I have fallen head over heels. I love how this book showed that being strong and capable does not mean you always have yourself together. He found support in a virtual stranger and that bond left them tethered for life, and I was here for it the whole time. I do think that Nash has some skewed logic when it comes to what he considers lying, but I guess I understand how he got there.

Loving this series!

Will say it again… WHY DIDNT I START THIS SERIES SOONER!!! I absolutely loved getting to read about Nash and Lina’s story! Also really enjoyed the fact that it still followed the characters from the first book! Lina is from ATL like me!! She comes to Knockemout for work but finds herself entangled with “Studly Do-Right” Turns out they’re both looking for the same guy but for different reasons. The banter between these two is hilarious!! Both of them scared to fall or take the leap. But when it happens lawd it HAPPENS!! I was so giddy throughout this whole book, I truly enjoyed it! This whole series is chefs kiss and I haven’t even started the third one which I’ve heard is the best in the series. My eyeballs were a little wet reading the epilogue and bonus epilogue 😭 “Baby, it’s not a game to me. This is my life. You are the only thing in my entire existence that makes me feel like I’ve got a shot at finding my way back. I don’t understand it. And frankly I don’t need to. All I know is I feel better when I’m touching you. When I woke up this morning, I didn’t feel like a ghost or a shadow. I felt good.”
