This read very different from the other books I’ve read by these authors. It was much more serious, without the signature snark and quirky humor of their usual books. And while I appreciated and enjoyed the more intense feel, I missed the snark. I think there could have been room for both with this story. I love a second-chance story, the way two people come back together. And not every second-chance has to come after angsty events, but when it does, there needs to be a deep acknowledgment of whatever those events might have been. There was acknowledgment, but it definitely didn’t feel as explored between the characters as it should have been. It felt like their reunion was just too easy. Another aspect that bothered me was the relationship between Tate and her father. I hated the way he treated her, and I hated even more her acceptance of it. She felt like a doormat, never calling him out for his behavior, not once. No matter what he did, she justified it, excused it. It felt uncomfortable, how easily she accepted it. But I did love the chemistry between Sam and Tate. I felt his guilt, even if Tate didn’t make him work harder for forgiveness. And I loved the intensity of the film they worked on together, the script Sam wrote. That was the story that needed to be told.

Got boring quick
The first part of this book was very entertaining but then she skipped again a lat number of years and everything completely changed and I did not enjoy it. After it switched times I could not bring myself to read it anymore because everything was dull. I recommend any of Christina Lauren’s books because they both are amazing authors but I do not recommend this book.

Good read overall
I’m not gonna go into too much detail this is more sharing my opinion to those that have already read. In all honesty as many other reviews have mentioned I liked the beginning a tad bit more than the second half that takes place 14 years after Sam’s betrayal. Reason being that he seemed to be out of character and not as involved in the story for example a good amount of the book is mentioning him watching from the side or descriptions of him and the ending seemed abrupt with a not so catchy ending line, for me “Let’s look at the sky” was way too simple for a nostalgic moment referring to when they first met. Finally I absolutely adored the epilogue in “The Unhoneymooners” which was written in male leads POV which was a refreshing twist so it would have been nice to see something similar in this story just to tie all lose ends together with what happens after all the publicity chaos and possibly time skip to see what the revived couple does in the future. Overall it was a good read especially considering second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes .4

Hollywood, Second Chance Romance
Just by reading the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued by the plot and had a feeling I was going to love this story. This story was about Tate and how from a young age she had always kept the secret of how her father really was (you find out in the story why she keeps it a secret) and how the meeting with a guy named, Sam changed her life. In addition, how subsequently following the events of her identity being revealed, years later she became a famous actress, and may or may not have been brought back to Sam under unconventional circumstances. The story opened with Tate fourteen years ago when she and her grandma, Jude went to London to celebrate Tate’s eighteenth birthday. For Tate being in London was a dream come true and the opportunity to get out of her small town. While in London, Tate met Sam, also visiting London with his grandpa, Luther. Tate and Sam immediately started to develop a connection and would always meet at night to watch the stars and just talk, hang out. I really liked Tate and Sam’s late night hang out’s because it not only showed Tate living a little, but also opening up to someone and letting them know all about her. Although once Tate and Sam’s relationship started to develop into more romantic I though, “oh maybe nothing bad will happen after all”, um no I was wrong because of course something was going to happen, after all it was mentioned in the synopsis. In a way by setting up the beginning in the past it really set up the story nicely so then it would transition from the idyllic romance of Tate and Sam to the (unfortunate) blow out betrayal that Tate experienced to the present. When Tate was on set for her most anticipated film, and she found out that Sam was the screenwriter who wrote the film, I was shocked and surprised for Tate. I was also a bit angry for Tate as well. Seeing how Tate was shocked at being confronted by Sam after so many years was an unexpected surprise for her and not the good kind at that. I was definitely on Tate’s side, but I also couldn’t help feeling bad for Sam. Then later on, when Sam revealed his reasoning behind his betrayal to Tate, it made sense but also tugged at my heart strings. At the time when Sam and Tate were in London, Sam was faced with a painful decision that ultimately changed Tate’s life, but also resulted in him losing her, and Tate losing that sense of security she believed she had with Sam. Although afterwards once Sam and Tate cleared the air between them, it seemed like they started to build back up the natural connection they once shared many years ago from when they were younger. I found Tate and Sam’s chemistry lovely and sweet, and despite the set back of what drew them apart, they were able to find their way back to each other. This story had a little bit of everything from the Hollywood scene of acting, movies, second chance romance, obstacles that’s Tate and Sam had to overcome, lighthearted energy, and the sweet yet all consuming love and romance that Tate and Sam had for each other. Definitely a good book to read and would recommend.

Good start, Meh End
The beginning of the book is the story of how Tate and Sam met and fell in love. It was a sweet story that's cut short by a betrayal. I was fully engaged in this story until it got to present time. When Sam and Tate meet again as adults the story kind of loses its spark. It felt like maybe there were a few unnecessary scenes and the dialogue isn't in usual Christina Lauren fashion. There wasn't little to no funny or witty banter and it all seemed to kind of blend together. Overall, I'd probably only recommend the first part of this love story.

Eehh it was OK
3.5 STARS Tate meets Sam while on vacation over seas and he quickly becomes her first everything. But her heart is broken when he betrays her in the worst way possible. I love the first half of the book and getting to watch their young relationship grow. While I enjoyed the second half of the book, I wanted a little more angst, a little more something. Worth the read, it just didn’t blow me away.

Fun and unexpected!
This is a 4,5 stars ⭐️ for me! It is my first book of the authors and I really enjoyed it. I bought this book as a new release but read it until Jan 2021, and by the time I read it I really didn’t re-read the synopsis at the back cover. I think that definitely contributed to my experience with the book as all the twists and turns on the story where totally unexpected for me. That’s why I don’t want to give too much on this review either. The book takes us through the story of Tate an 18 year old American girl that is vacationing with her grandma in London. They are having this wonderful vacation, and Tate might get in love of a young American also on a vacation with his grandfather. She finds in the handsome Sam a partner for adventuring in London, a perfect confidant, and her first true love... This is a fun book and it reads super fast, I did stay up a lot reading through it specially when I wanted to know more when the story twists and presents you the unexpected!
